Hi, I hope you don't get flamed for this one

gtk-gnutella, qtella, and Limewire. WinMX sucked to me btw

Just do us all a favor and install gtk-gnutella. Limewire sucks even in Windows world so don't install it and if you try to install it, your just going to get flamed and told to install gnutella anyways.. .

is the winmx protocol copyrighted, is that why there's no linmx?
i use winmx all the time and it's great, you can resume incomplete downloads and download the same file from multiple users at the same time (speeding up downloads). can gtk-gnutella do all this?

yes, mostly, not from more than one client at once though. i'm sure it'll crop up soon.
