Do I require Oracle 9i Client?
Hi,
I've been developing the website for my company using PHP and mySQL. Its hosted on our Fedora machine. Now the management decided to use Oracle instead of mySQL, and I have to modify the website to use Oracle in the backend.
My question is .... Do I need to install Oracle Client on my Fedora server (just like we have to install Oracle Client in windows) or does Fedora already have the necessary modules/packages to connect my PHP code with Oracle. and yes ..... the Oracle Database resides on a seperate machine and is working fine.
I have to develop the site on my own machine (windows 2000 w/ Apache2) test it, and upload to the main webserver (fedora machine).
I also noticed that php.ini on Fedora didn't have any extensions' lines to uncomment like in windows. Basically its my first time using Linux/Fedora so don't know what to expect from it. There are other ppl in the company responsible for maintaining the servers and everything but don't know jack about website hosting or related stuff.
Can anyone help? and I'm sorry if asking a question not worth posting ... but I'm kinda lost here.
Thanks in advance.
Wasil
