DinoCapture 2.0

I use a digital microscope, Dino-Lite in Window 7 just fine. I tried installing the software from OEM CD, DinoCapture 2.0 in Wine. As far as I know all my software is up to date on my PC using the latest version of Ubuntu.

The program installs, I get one message about a missing windows file... darn... I should have written it down..

Just wondering if anyone else has sucess using this tool with Linux?

Thanks
Terry (Newbie)

Thanks for the info, I read it over. Some was way over my head! This DinoLite does not use a firewire, just plane old USB. The camera will not active until the program is running. The last time it I tried to install it in Wine, I got message that a particular windows file was missing. Next I will try another install only this time I'll write down what the missing file is and try to get it off the web. I'm still open for suggestions - Thanks!

Here's something else I found. http://www.marshalltradecorp.com/coD...ope_linux.html If this isn't what you want I'd suggest you do a bit of searching yourself. It's really not that hard to do.

DinoCapture 2.0

I use DinoCapture 2.0 with Ubuntu 18.04 with guvcview, which can be installed directly using:

Code:
sudo apt-get install guvcview
It lets you take photos and record video, set fps, resolution ...

Once installed it can be launched using:
Code:
guvcview
If you want the latest version you must add the repository:
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: pj-assis / ppa
Uninstall old versions, if you have them:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove --autoremove guvcview
Install the latest version:
Code:
sudo apt-get install guvcview
