Debian's and debian based distros issue with disk space.

Debian and debian based distros issue has a issue that has come to make it self aware to me when I was trying to burn a video on my hard drive with braseo and it won't let me burn more than 4.4 gigs to a dvd with 4.7 gigs of free space even a file that is over the 4.4 gig limit by a megabyte with windows i didn't have this problem. One more thing I have 16 gig flash drive and on debian and debian based distros i can only use 13.1 gigs of it but on fedora I can use all 16 gigs.
If anyone knows whats going on here please let me know.

How do you know you can use only 13.1 GB? What file systems are you using on both systems? What does df -h give you on both systems?

I did your command and they both said my 16gig flash drive was 15 gigs so I owe you a thank you. Thanks. but could you help me with the dvd thing or is it just Braseo by the way I have a few files on my computer that I have converted to .avi and i am wondering if you knew of any programs that could convert it and burn it so my dvd player could read. A lot of windows programs can convert avi to dvd mpeg 2 so my dvd play could read it or maybe some thing wine could run. Anyone have some idea of a program I could use.

My experience with video and DVD's is nil. But for format conversion, take a look at mplayer and mencoder.
