cvs lost a directory??

I have imported a source with a sub directory like so

/siteadmin/images

When I do a checkout, I don't get that directory. It is not in the repository either. However, the logs show information for files in that directory.

I have added that directory to my working copy from a backup. How do I get cvs to add the new directory to the repositoy?

Right now, when I try to commit that directory, cvs does not see any changes.
