Hi. I am running ProFTPD on Mandrake 9.1 and I can log in with anonymous and my log on name for the machine. Can someone please tell me how to create a logon that will work for the ftp server. I have created the account ftpshares and haev it setup up with a home directory that it owns and a shell exactly like the instrucinons show but everytime I go to log on with it it tells me bad password and I am using the one that I used to create the account with. What am I doing wrong?
i know back some time ago i had the exact error, and all i needed to do was just issue the passwd command and change the password, even if it is the same one, but just give it a try by changing the password for the user .. passwd <username>
