Convert Fedora Core 4 DVD into CD pack

I am a Linux newbie, and am planning to install a Fedora Core 4 distribution from a DVD I got along with a magazine. Unfortunately, my desktop cannot boot from a DVD device (I know, I should have checked before I bought the magazine!) so:

a) Anyone please help me turn the DVD into a CD pack

OR

b) Anyone who has a Dell Dimension 8400 with a DVD-RW and a separate CD-RW tell me how to set the DVD as a boot device.

Any and all help much appreciated!

If you have a DVD drive and it reads DVDs fine there should be no reason it cannot boot the DVD. The only thing that could be wrong is your BIOS setup. You may need to turn on booting from a DVD/CD device in the BIOS. Other than that the DVD may be bad.

PS) You can go to dell.com and chat with a support tech and ask them how to enter your bios.

In my son's dell, it's the F2 key gets you in the bios. You'll see it when it boots, it'll tell what key it is for entering setup.
