Configuring php5 to find odbc_connect

I have PHP5 and unixodbc installed. I have a test php program to open an Informix SE database, but I am getting unknown function odbc_connect. What do I need to configure -- assuming it is in php.ini -- to get php5 to see unixodbc?

I have checked and the necessary libraries are in the path.
