warnings during compiling modules
( post #1)


using gcc while compiling modules i am getting

errors such as;

concentration of string literals with _FUNCTION_ is depreciated

setup_string is defined but no used

warning : implicit declaration of ...

warning : duplicate const...

what are these messages related to?
what might be causing them?

ok ure right...
well I was recompiling my 2.4.22 kernel... and i did the bzImage succesfully but I kept getting those errors for several module files I mentioned be4 while make modules

u know when the lines are flooding... they got cought in my eye so I wrote them down...

they were not a lot nut still...

and also when making depmod -a im getting unresolved modules errors..

hmm...?

They are just compiler *warnings*. The gcc compiler changes all the time, so it might report new warnings about the code.

Only if a compilation ends with an error message, a programmer could look at the warnings for more information about the possible cause

should I just ignore them then ?

what about unresolved modules msgs when issuing depmod -a kernel_nr
