compile kernel


i want to install the new kernel in my kubuntu ,but when i run
-----------------------------------------------------------
make O=/home/name/build/kernel xconfig
this error appears:
GEN /home/name/build/kernel/Makefile
scripts/kconfig/qconf arch/i386/Kconfig
scripts/kconfig/qconf: /usr/local/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by /usr/share/qt3/lib/./libqt-mt.so.3)
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

qconf: cannot connect to X server :0.0
make[2]: *** [xconfig] Error 1
make[1]: *** [xconfig] Error 2
make: *** [xconfig] Error 2

also,
make O=/home/name/build/kernel gconfig
this error appears

please help me to compile my kernel

You need to have the gtk development package installed to get access to the X based configurator, and also you need to make sure the user you're running make as can connect to the X server on the machine. Or you can just use menuconfig which is about as easy to use and will probably work.

what do i underestand the user can connect to X server???

i install gtk+ and glib and libglade but my problem not be solved
