changing desktop manager at login

hi, my system does a graphical boot into gnome (gdm?).
i just installed enlightenment and would like it to be the desktop mgr .
is there a way i can add it to the sessions list at login?
and is it only necessary for me to edit the .xinitrc file?

thanks.
