changing default for pdf file opening

I am running Redhat 9 and just downloaded Acrobat Reader 7.0 and installed it. I would like that to be the default program which reads a .pdf file when I click on it, but cannot figure out how to do it. I can force it, by opening a terminal and then typing in a command (/usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/bin/acroread file.pdf) but there must be a way to just specify that acroread is the default to open a .pdf file, isn't there??

What window manager are you using? If you are using Konqueror just go to settings->configure konqeror->file associations.

I'm using Mozilla. Don't see a similar facility under "tools" for Mozilla to change file associations.

What windows manager are you using?

Should be able to click on it and say use 'XPDF' or 'Adobe' when D/L.

Or try right clicking on the file in a file manager and see if you can set it up that way.

A bit of a follow-up. I can right click on the .pdf document and one of the choices is "open with." The default is Xpdf. I tried to change that to acroread (after doing a su root) but it doesn't help.

Some more follow-up. First, I lied (but not on purpose) about which browser I was using. Keeping in mind that I am not very experienced in Linux, I think that when I login I get the Gnome desktop, and when I click on a folder, the contents are displayed with the Nautilus 2.2.4 viewer. So it is from within Nautilus that Xpdf is chosen to have its way with the .pdf file. I did read the FM and it says to change the file association the way that I did it, but it didn't work.

I suppose you installed the browser plugin after you downloaded adobe. You must do that. It's not done by default. It should set itself as the default app.
