can you use rsync on tarballs

didn't know if i could tar something up into a new_stuff.tar and then run rsync on the old_stuff.tar that i had tarred up the day before? if anyone know how you would do something like this, or if it is allowed. please drop me a line.

It is allowed.

There are so many ways to use rsync (8, according to man rysnc) that it would help to know what your situation is. Are you synchronizing across a network or local files? If it is remotely then do you want to run rsync as a server or use ssh?
