can opera version 9.10 emulate internet explorer

Hello I havent used opera in a while but I remember that in previous releases I could use an option to emulate internet explorer and netscape while using Opera. I dont readily see this in the new version. Can it still do this?

Does anyone know a web browser that can emulate Internet Explorer? I need this because I have to access a webpage that hangs whenever I want to access it with firefox or opera.

thanks,

If you're not using Extensions in Firefox, then you're missing out on some powerful stuff.

Here the agent switcher extension for FF, to make it fake itself as IE.

Opera can still identify as IE. You can even set it on a site by site basis if you want. To do it either right-click or press F12 and click on Site preferences. Go to the Network tab and pick your selection from the drop down box.

Konqueror is able to do it as well.

Yes it does, and it does a pretty good job. However, there are STILL sites which check on both the browser and the OS, and that is something Opera cannot disguise.

Sometimes you'll get a list of what is supported:
IE 5.5 on Window98
IE 5.5 on WindowsME
...
IE 6 on WinXP
..etc

Banks and airlines are infamous for that, I noticed that even CNN now refuses to play videos if you don't have Media Player 9.

Sometimes only the real broken, crappy and quirky IE can show you what you want and that is why I keep Win2k around on VMWare.

Don't be mistaken though, as far as I can see Opera adheres to the W3C standards and does it very well, whereas IE does not. It seems that the quirky mode of IE 6 has created a different standard which 90% of the web developing tools produce and the IE 6 users can happily watch. I always thought it was the other way around that incorrect display was Opera's fault, which is not.
