I have this doubt, if linux client can be authenticated via Samba PDC?
On googling for Samba PDC, i find that all the documents talk about configuring windows clients and not Linux...
I have a situation, where i am required to authenticate both linux and windows client..?
Further, how is Open LDAP advantageous over Samba PDC?
Are you trying to authenticate a linux workstation against another Linux Samba PDC or against a Windows PDC or a Windows workstation against one of the above? I have successfully configured SuSE 10 and Kubuntu Dapper workstations to authenticate against a Windows PDC using Win2K.
I am planning to deploy samba PDC on the server end which is running on Linux -FC4, on the client side I have Linux - FC5 and XP Prof machines....
I am now thinking of deploying Samba PDC with LDAP.....
Any Suggestions?
Samba By Example is a pretty good place to get started (this is a PDF document). It walks you through, step-by-step, examples of common setups, including using Linux as a PDC. I've never used LDAP, so I cannot say for sure there. I hope this helps.
