Can I run the swap partition on th second hard drive?

Hello,

I usuall run everything but home on the first partition but since I never use swap anyways I was thinking about dropping it on the second hard drive to free up space.

Also what about /tmp ? Can it be on the second hard drive?

Thanks,

-Charles

Swap could be on a different HDD than /, so could /tmp. But you can just delete most of /tmp, instead of moving it to another drive.

Thanks dude I was thinking the same the same thing, I just wanted to sneak a 9 gig hard drive on the first slot and keep home for the second but my regular partitions require about 16 on the main drive.

1 gig /tmp

1 gig /swap

1 gig /

8 gig /var (can be less)

10 gig /usr (can be less)

100 meg /boot

160 gig /home on a separate drive

Even if I lower the var and usr to 3 and 5 it's still too much

11 1/2 total at the least but if I move tmp and swap I can sneak into a 9.1 gig main drive for super fast log and apache loading.

Just me I always try to find ways to make these things go faster...
