Can I copy annotations and metadata to another pdf document in Okular?

Hello linux gurus,

I would like to ask a question as I am not very familiar with Okular and before I start using it seriously. A new edition of a book I am annotating will come out soon. I need to transfer my old annotations to the new file (will be on same page numbers I know). Would that be possible? Does Okular do some kind of a check on files or does it just display notes on the corresponding page numbers? What's the easiest way to do this? I thought that copying and renaming xml metafiles in the directory would do the trick.

Thank you

Okular is an image viewer used mainly for *.pdf files. I've not had occasion to annotate anything in it, but, according the Okular help, you can annotate files. From Okular-->Help-->Okular Handbook-->Okular Advanced Features:

Code:
Okular allows you to review and annotate your documents. Annotations created in Okular are automatically saved in the internal local data folder for each user. Okular does not implicitly change any document it opens.
There's much more on that page. You might want to take a look at it to see whether it meets your needs, but it looks as if you should be able to transfer your annotations to it. It may not necessarily be an automatic process.

Okular is my preferred *.pdf reader, but I can't help more as I've used this feature.

Edit Annotations for Okular

I am on Ubuntu 17.10;Okular says it's version is: 1.1.3
I see .xml files in both:
<home dir>/.kde/share/apps/okular/docdata/<filesize>.<filename>.xml
<home dir>/.local/share/okular/docdata/<filesize>.<filename>.xml

For newer edits, I see them in the .local dir.I haven't perused the
source to find under what conditions the .xml file moves to the .kde dir. (yet).
