As the title suggests, I can't seem to figure out how to get playlists generated in Amarok 2 to an ipod. the ipod is a second gen nano 2gb. I am having a hell of a time trying to get a decent ipod manager up and running since the switch over. However, everything I have read lately suggests that Amarok is the best to try. I like it but I can't seem to get this function (surely it exists [although, Banshee neglected such a basic feature]) to work.

Additionally, I am curious if there is something special to do in order to get podcasts transfered over as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks to everyone.

However - AFAIK: you cannot use Amarok to create iPod playlists.

You should realise that Apple strongly restricts the way iPods can be used. Nothing involving iPods can be considered "basic". You will also experience trouble with mp4 files and anything featuring DRM. OTOH: iPods won't play non-restricted formats like FLAC.

Usual advise is to sell the ipod and buy a less user-hostile media player. However, it looks like yours is one of the ones which can be liberated - so you can consider running non-apple software on it instead.

Well, in reality, the nano is a test subject. I have an ipod classic that I use for long trips and the like and that is the real objective. As of yet, rockbox will not work on the classic. I watch that site like a hawk waiting for some news on any changes.

Amarok 1 and many other ipod aware media players in Linux have been able to add playlists to an iPod for years. The issue with Amarok2 is specific to it. The new version of Amarok is a usability nightmare. I too have been unable to get my playlists from Amarok2 onto my iPod.

You can use Banshee, Listen, Rythembox. They will all add playlists to your iPod.
