I've been trying to install ZSNES 1.42 under SuSE 10, and after downloading various dependencies (SDL, NASM, ZLib...) I still can't get it to install. Here is the output:

well it sounds like the compiler is attempting to compile sound (dsp1emu.c) and is getting caught up in the gl.h file -- apparently having problems with OpenGL. I'd check to make sure that GL is installed and working properly (can you run 'glxgears' ?)
Also, you can attempt to use snes9x instead -- it actually comes precomiled (which may or may not be a good thing)
OpenGL you say? I've been having some problems installing my video card (ATI Radeon 9250). Could that be part of the issue? I ran 'glxgears' and averaged 144 FPS.
okay, so the FPS in glxgears is not necessarily a benchmark, but can show if acceleration is working or not... Check out this webpage for some examples:
Also, on my older test system (Cel 466mhz, 256MB RAM, ATI Rage video) without GL accelaration (in fact I get GL errors even when running glxgears) - I can average 90+ fps
