Can't install XML::Parser

I have the following error:

checking for XML::Parser... configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool

I have installed the module with cpan, and I have installed libxml-parser-perl, libexpat-dev and libperl-dev using aptitude.

perl -ne 'use XML::Parser' just hangs with no output.

.. Any ideas?

Why are you using the 'n' switch? That's the reason why its not doing anything. All you are doing is creating an infinite loop that does nothing. The good news is that your module is installed, otherwise it definitly would have said something. So stop using that 'n' :-)

Well ...

What exactly are you trying to do. It looks from the error message that you are trying to either install or configure something somehow. Assuming that perl -e 'use XML::Parser;' does in fact run without any problems, the module is installed. I'm thinking that the script that you are running is trying to find the actual module somewhere other than where it is installed.

future note to self: be sure about what the program is supposed to do before you ask for help :)
