Hello when I put CD ubuntu 10.04 32 bit
in laptop I get the message on screen (CD ROM Boot Priority Boot ready)and wont go ant further , CD works ok in my wifes laptop , can any one help
If you have a newer computer that boots in efi mode then 10.04 won't work unless changes are made in bios. ubuntu 10.04 is a little outdated would recommend to use a more up to date version of ubuntu.

I have been told to install Debian instead of Ubuntu , is it better and where can i get a Debian CD
For someone new to linux it is a matter of preference and how well they understand computers. Ubuntu is suppose to be easier to use then Debian, and linux Mint is said to be easier then Ubuntu. There are several linux distos available that are easy to use. Then there are the ones that take some reading to learn how to install but will help in learning the linux system. It also depends on the computer your installing linux on. An older computer will call for a distro that is lite on resources, something that Ubuntu isn't. To recommend a few distos that maybe suitable, it would help if we knew your computer specs.

You should probably have 2GB or more of memory for the major distributions to run well. The link below has a list of a number of Linux distributions and Links to the home page of each. See the Page Hit Ranking on the right of the page. You can read about them at their respective links. Most of the links will have minimum hardware requirements and you can compare that to the hardware you actually have by going to the respective pages.
The 10.04 Desktop version has not been supported for nearly three years which means no security updates or new software available from their repositories.
Another thing, you don't mention having any other operating system on this computer. Do you, and if so which one?

what is with the CD thing? can you get a hold of a USB Stick? burn a copy to it, then install it that way, or if you do have a CD Burner then use the iso to burn it to a CD if you must.
or go the the debian webpage and it should be listed there how to get CD/DVD of their system.
