can't install iostat, mpstat on fedora core 1

I have a box that's been running for about a year and a half nonstop. I'm trying to do some diagnostics to find the bottlenecks and realize it doesn't have iostat or mpstat on it. I tried:
Code:
yum install iostat
and got an error:
Code:
[root@mydomain /]# yum install iostat
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 1 - i386 - Base
retrygrab() failed for:
  http://fedora.redhat.com/releases/fedora-core-1/headers/header.info
  Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file http://fedora.redhat.com/releases/fedora-core-1/headers/header.info
[Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found
I found this page which suggested a fix:
http://fedoranews.org/tchung/howto/2...-yum-404.shtml

but it doesn't find the new urls either:
Code:
[root@mydomain /]# yum install iostat
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 1 - i386 - Base
retrygrab() failed for:
  http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
  Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
[Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found
I know you're probably thinking 'fedora core 1?? he should upgrade!'. This is precisely what I am trying to do, I just wanted to get an idea of where my system bottlenecks are before investing in the new machine/setup costs/software, etc.

iostat is part of sysstat - there is a rpm on the homepage for the sysstat package. See here; don't know how it'll work for you as I haven't touched Redhat/Fedora in years.

Hm. I tried downloading source code and doing configure/make/install but haven't been able to get it to finish. There are a bunch of configuration options and apparently i'm getting them wrong. I haven't got the slightest notion of what to do with an RPM file. Any tips?

first make sure sysstat package is not install on your machine. If no, all your have to do is rpm -ivh package. This will install the rpm to your system. Make sure you download the right version for FC1 otherwise it will error out.

Ok i got the rpm installed! googled around and found 'rpm -i filename.rpm'.

however, i still can't run sar...i get an error:
Code:
[root@mydomain root]# sar -u
Cannot open /var/log/sa/sa10: No such file or directory
iostat and mpstat work fine though.
