go to http://web.onetel.net.uk/~showerail/...net_setup.html

that should help a little try setting up eth0 using static ip like it does in there

what do you mean by "what does my network setup look like"?
I mean, do you have a router connected to your modem, how many computers are there, etc..

You must run this as root.

You don't have to run ifconfig as root, but you have to have /sbin in your path.

It is indeed easier to run it as root, because root usually has /sbin in path, and you can also change the parameters in addition to listing them.

BUMP

sorry to bring this back up but i still cant fugure this out. i havn't been on my comp lately so i just kind of forgot about my problem. when i did get on i just had to cope with winxp.

anyway, i think i found out what could be the problem, but i dont know how to fix it. its acting like there is a size limit as to how much info i can download. right now it seems to be set at something like 10kb. i can connect to google once, but no more. if i try to reload the page or go to a different site it wont work. i can search on google but no pics show up (im guessing because of filesize), only text. this leads me to believe that i am connected and that google is not just in the memory somwhere. its not the browser as far as i can tell, because the same thing happens in every browser i use. and if i do this in one browser then i cant do it in another and i have to restart the comp to try again.

sorry if i'm becomeing repetitive and annoying...
