Can't get mms broadcast with mplayer

i'm trying to listen to a radio show at this link:
http://www.thestreet.com/m/_rmradio/radio (requires free subscription)

i've determined that the link (after you cut through all the extraneous bs links) is:
mms://mms.thestreet.com/cramer120104.wma

this was working before, hadn't used it for a while and now no longer works. the error indicates that the connection is refused but i don't know why. i've tried putting in my username/password on the command but that makes no difference and i didn't have to do that before when it was working. i just installed the latest version of mplayer & codecs and am able to listen to .wma files from other web-sites. i'd like to know if anyone can get this site with linux...

Try using xine and see if you get an error. If you do then it's probably not just a problem with mplayer, but you may need newer codecs or it may just be another problem.

i finally got around to installing xine, and it works great!

i didn't even have to install the windows codecs, i wonder why xine works but not mplayer? well as long as one of them does. thanks for the tip, reddazz.

So it was a problem with your previuos version of mplayer. Its a good thing you tried a newer verison.
