how do u dial in? using wvdial - would be a good choice.
or something graphic like kppp or kwvdial if u run kde.
u need a program like that to dial in.just configure your connection and go...

I get unknown host when i try to http://www.google.com, i thought the net connection is not working.Actually the problem is with DNS.I know this as soon as i swithed to KDE desktop which is more user friendly and showed that i am connected.

I then try to ping ip address which is successful,
but pinging a web url address is unsuccessful.

I have setup the name server of my isp in /etc/resolv.conf (which early the file not exist):

domain www.maxis.net.my
nameserver 202.75.129.102
nameserver 202.75.129.101

i am able to connect to internet and access this forum
successfully from a pc running linux.

Thanks to all those who tried to help me!

P.S. I get the name server of my isp from the website
http://www.dnsreport.com
