Can't burn CDs in K3b using CUE files (EAC-created)
Hi there.
I always get an error message when trying to burn an EAC-ripped CD (WAVE files + CUE sheet). The k3b program always generate message
Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:
You may manually convert these audio files to wave using another application supporting the audio format and then add the wave files to the K3b project.
K3b burns without problems anything I pop into it, wav, flac, you name it - it only doesn't read the CUE files. Since EAC created CUE files are the only one I have, I can't compare with other CUE files, created by other application. Anyway, I'm giving you a listing of a typical EAC-generated CUE file so if you know what kind of CUE-input, k3b reads - maybe you could help me out to modify my CUE-files so k3b reads them properly.

Maybe a silly question, but why don't you just drag the wav files over manually - from what I see the cue file doesn't give you many extra info that might be necessary and they are properly numbered, so that they should appear in the right order right after dragging them!?

Well, that always works...but sometimes (perhaps the CUE I posted above ain't a good example) some (original) CDs are made in a certain way. They have sometimes a bit strange set of track-indexes that cannot really be re-created manually. I guess it's always easy to add stuff manually when it comes to no gaps vs. 2 sec gaps. That, I have no problem with adding on my own. But there are actually some weird track indexes. I've seen / heard long, 20 seconds gaps between the tracks containing sound instead of typical gap-silence, the voice of the singer talking to the audience before the next track. Probably the best example is live album, "Decade of Agression", by SLAYER. Burning a CD like this one, without proper CUE sheet, would make the mentioned 20-sec gap go into the previous track instead of being "hidden" between two tracks. So anyway, to make my story short, the reason I want to make CUE work in k3b is cause I want IDENTICAL copies of the original recording, with proper track indexing, simple as that. If I don't solve this, I'll only use k3b for burning of personal collections, while original CDs I'll keep burning in EAC, which, unfortunately, forces me to boot into Windows.

It works okay if you use one big file with cue sheet (tested it some minutes ago with a .wav and a .flac file). Single files like you used it give me the same error. I hope that's a solution for you at least for the few live CDs where you need the gapless recording.
Nota bene: I did not test if the burned CD was gapless and an exact copy, but only if k3b accepts the cue files properly.

Reason: clarification of the test I made (and made not)

I don't think you understand what the problem is...
Gapless has never been an issue...
Nevermind...but thanks anyway...
I think I'll just stick to EAC for exact audio copies (just like the name says). I wish this would show up in Linux (or at least work properly in Wine)...
you could work around the problem by just splitting the track with the voice (right click -> split) at the point the music starts (or wherever you want) and then remove the 2 seconds gap (right click -> properties -> post gap). This will not be 'exact' as it will make the 'gap-speeches' a track on their own, but it gives you the index you want.
