BZedit won't compile because of gtkglarea

i am trying to get BZedit installed in slackware 9.1 so i can make maps for BZflag.....

when it i try to ./configure BZedit it stops and gripes about not being able to find gtkglarea.... i got my hands on the offending package, compiled it, installed it......but when i try to compile BZedit....it still gives the error about not being able to find gtkglarea...

i even tried the windows version in wine....doesnt run very well...

anybody around here get this program to work..????

thanks.....

dig.....

If gtkglarea is installed, but BZedit won't find it, there could be two problems:

1) You didn't do a "make clean" before attempting to recompile, so BZedit does not know that gtklarea has since been installed;

2) gtklarea is not in your $PATH$ (or installed to a location not in your $PATH$), so BZedit can't find it in any case.

Try #1 first.

If that doesn't help, you can try #2 by typing echo $PATH and locate gtklarea|less and comparing the two outputs to see if gtklarea is in fact in your $PATH$.

If it is not, you could either add it, or you could read the INSTALL or README file likely included with the BZEdit source, to see if there's a switch to allow you to specify where gtklarea is.

Hope this helps.

#1 will not work because nothing gets configured, therefore nothing to get 'cleaned'....( i had already tried it)

root@derfaust:~/bzedit-2.1# make clean
make: *** No rule to make target `clean'. Stop.
root@derfaust:~/bzedit-2.1#

#2 ....i had already read the README and INSTALL...they dont tell you much...i evene dug through configure.in...thought i found the option....it didnt work........

if you want to try and install it...please...please...please...ROCK!!!... goto http://derfaust.myftp.org/cgi-bin/upload.cgi..bzedit is in there along with gtkglarea....try it.... call it a challenge if you will....lol...can you get it installed

any other ideas? and thanks for the reply....

Sorry, no can do. The files are no longer there (the links are, but they link to webpages, not files).

I ask again, where is gtklarea installed, and is that location in your $PATH$?
