Browsing Samba share from another linux box

At a command prompt I can type:
>smbclient //sambaserver/public
and browse my share.

However, if I open a file browser (the 'home' link on the X-desktop) and type:
smb://sambaserver
I can see the public folder but if I click that folder it just sits there and looks at me like I'm dumb.
What am I doing wrong?

Also, does linux support spaces in filenames?
typical mp3 files: artist - title.mp3
I don't really want to go renaming ALL my music!

Sorry for the shameless bump, but I would rather bump than create a completely new thread...
