Exclamation .bash_history

.bash_history reminds me of the ms-windows thing to "clear" from "Settings > Taskbar & Menu > Start Menu Programs".

what distro doesn't have this "useless feature" by default?

If you use BASH as your shell, then .bash_history will be created by default, the distro is irrelevant. This thread explains how to turn it off.
