Artificial Intelligence

Hi, After watching 2001 a space odeysee years ago.....

I would like to speak to my linux pc and have it talk back to me.
I expect there is some kind of via voice out there for linux, I guess it could somehow interface with an AI like A.L.I.C.E and then get the output to come out audibly.

Any ideas of how to do any of this?
Please tell me if its a crazy idea, or if it has been done before, how its done(A howto?).

I am using Redhat 9.0.

I have had a look on the web. I have ended up here looking for a direction/inspiration.

TIA

Neil.

via voice is available for Linux as is festival. I haven't used either, though, so that's all I can say about it.
