apt-get in a dmz

greetings!

i'm attempting to use apt-get on RH7.3 that resides in a dmz. I've tried to configure with and without a proxy and i can't seem to get this to fire up. I was wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue and what workaround you may have come up with. I've scoured the apt-get site and googled it many times. The person who setup the dmz is no longer around and considering i know little to nothing about dmz's i'm not about to mess with it. Any advice is appriciated.

thanks!
