Applying Con kolivas patches

hi

i have been recommended these kolivas patches to be applied to the kernel

now i have been compiling kernel for quite some time
i have enabled pre emption in my kernel
so do these patches do something extra??

i applied this patch like this from my kernel source dir.
it went fine

bunzip2 -dc ../patch-2.6.11-ck7.bz2 | patch -p1

i compiled my kernel then but i cannot see performace increase

am i missing something??

if patch didn't spit out any errors then it applied correctly. I used the ck patches a couple times, as well as the wolk patches and other performance "enhancing" patches but I have never seen enough of a performance increase to justify the time it takes to mess with it. I just use the vanilla sources anymore. Just my opinion.

yes i also did not see any more performance increase
maybe since i have been optimizing my kernel so i do not see much increase there
