I'm running a small site with mostly text. There's an english, french and german version, all of which are selected with different links.
I copied some french and german text into the appropriate htm files while I was on windows. So, everything looked fine on windows, then i SSHd to my linux (fedora3) server and uploaded them. Now, when conncted to the server using IE certain characters are not displaying things correctly.
however, it's my understanding that the browser sends in its http request what languages it is supporting, so apache can return those requests using the submitted langauges.
perhaps IE isn't sending the requests properly. However, froma windows computer I used opera and firefow and both show the german and french text incorrectly. But, when on my linux box and using firefox I can see the text MOSTLY fine...essentialy it looks better, but still not correct. OS issue??? I've added all the german and french encodings, so I don't know what's left to do. It doesn't seem like Multiview in apache is needed.
Any insight would be great. Or if this is a multiview solution useful links would be great, as I cna't find much.
I should mention the directory structure:
english is the root and french and german are subdirectories of english.
Well, I should also mention I am using virtual directories.
AddLanguage fr .fr
AddLanguage de .de
is on by default within httpd.conf
So, from what i've seen all that is needed is the file names need to be changed to .fr and .de, so apache knows to translate them, AND Options +MultiView need to be on in the Directory. Well, since I'm using cirtual servuers, MultiView should be turned on within that Vdirectory, right??? not sure where else to do this at if not there, unless i wans't using Vdirectories.
I have a site with 3 panes.
the top pane has link to english, frenhc, and german.
the english site is the default.
when I click on the french link for instance, two other frames change that have text translated to french. the htm files for these have been renamed to data.htm.fr, but still it doesn't display correctly, event after doing what I mentioned above (addlanguage, etc).
