Im happily running SuSE 9.0. And now im asking is there any synthesizer owners doing music with linux. In Win i used to use Sonar and mixed midi and audio together.
Where to start? What kind soundcards you use. Is midi connection working. What progs i should look.
Im ready to spent some money to hardware if needed but before that i need your help where to get started.
Thanks
PS. I have soundblaster extigy but thats maybe isnt good deal in linux?
i suggest you start with an m-audio audiophyle card .. they've got decent support for linux from what i've heard. I'm a Music Production and Engineering specialist on pc and mac but odly i've never touch linux, probably due to the lack of knowledge. I'd love to hear about your luck.
I have bought terratec 24/96 sound card. Installed (I re installed suse 9.0 and it find it with any problems. so its configured as ICE1712(Envy24).
I also have alsa installed. Then i installed rosegarden ?0.9.1 which came with suse, but i read somewhere it was somehow broken. So i downloaded newest rose...0.9.5.tar.gz and installed. Some dependancy problems were encountered but it was only missing development packages. So now it seems everything should work. But when i start rosegarden it says "The specified file doesnt exists" What file?? Help. I also had installed this JACK and tried to first run it and then rosegarden. No sound. In rosegarden configs it recognized my soundcard okay at least it looks so. I can load some.mid and start to play it but no sound. Am i missing some, something?
