Alternatives to KDE wallet / Gnome keyring?

Hi, i am looking for something to store passwords in (requiring a prompt for my users logon password), but looking for something that isn't dependent on a desktop environment. Are there any minimal alternatives to these?

Keepassx.

It's cross-platform, and the databases are portable and compatible with KeyPassDroid for Android.

If you don't mind being tied to a browser (although most popular browsers are supported), I'm a fan of lastpass.

Both of Keepass and Lastpass are password managers. I already use Bitwarden for password management online.
I meant to say keyring application, as in something which is only locally used, so that it prompts to ask for my user accounts password (a bit like sudo).

Say for example i have a bash script which calls an imaps:// url to fetch my email, i don't want to store that password in plaintext within the script. But instead, have some command that requests the password by prompting what is essentially a graphical sudo.

I would just use the SecretService API (freedesktop.org implementation). It's not DE dependent.
