Wow, thank you so much for all the information that you've given me. The reason that I was reluctant to try that patch was because I didn't want it to mess up my kernel. Now that you've told me that I can back it up, that changes everything. The funny thing about linux is that every time I get frustrated with it and load up windows, windows crashes on me and I come running back to linux. Hopefully I'll get some new time to play with that kernel deal soon. Thank you again for all the help.

Well, the good news is the "make install" seemed to work with ALSA. With pengaol it didn't work, but luckily a tutorial had a listing of each of the files so I hunted them down. Using the command from the ALSA tutorial to load the ALSA stuff into the kernel didn't work however because it couldn't find the files. I'm surprised that it didn't though since I THINK I have the RPMs installed. I did actually make a post though about some RPM troubles at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=57642 I thought it was more of a general question so I posted it there. I'm thinking about just downloading that Beta Kernel 2.5.86 I checked the changelog and it seems to have support for my sound card. Hmm, well hopefully I will get some sound working at some point. Take care and thank you for all of your help.

Rep:
in the book animal farm, there was a lying raven,
named moses, who lied to all the animals and told
them that when they died, they went to a place
called sugarcandy mountain, where it was was Sunday
seven days a week, linseed cake and lump sugar grew
on the hedges, and clover was in season all year round.
It sounded like a nice place, and i thought it was funny, so
thats where i'm from.
