Unhappy alien issues

I am a newbie, I am using redhat 8.0 and I am trying to convert staroffice.deb to staroffice.rpm format. The alien command was not found so I downloaded the alien-7.24-3.noarch.rpm and installed rpm. I copied the staroffice.deb from cd onto harddrive under root/staroffice.

[root@linux staroffice]# alien --to-rpm staroffice_60_1_i386.deb
Can't locate Alien/Package/ in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at /usr/bin/alien line 212.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/alien line 212.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Would open office do the job? Red Carpet has that in it's packages.
