advance text editor

is there a free text advance text editor that can do programming, html, c++, c and etc like what ultraedit and editplus do for linux or windows?

i like editplus alot coz it had the feature that searches text that includes newline, tab character, character in range, numbers only and invinsible characters and can replace it with any character.

vim is great for just about any editing.
If you want something with a GUI you might try Bluefish.

I also prefer vim or emac than anyother editors for programming. As it has the capability of automatic indenting so that we need not want to worry about the tab or spaces to be put for each newline. So as a Linux User, try to use the GNU supporting text editors and softwares.

kate is a worthy mention if you run KDE, but i would also recommend vim, it has a very steep learning curve, but that just means you learn more, faster
