adding ifort to opensuse 11.0

Hi,

I am working on opensuse 11.0 and when I was installing it, I ticked gcc-gfortran and I compiled some codes of mine with this compiler.

Now, I want to compile codes with ifort so I downloaded it from intel website. But I want to know how I should arrange the installation of the new compiler (ifort) not to conflict with gfortran and also how I can compile my code with ifort. I mean what terms I should mention so that the code chooses ifort for the compilation?

Regards,
Hana

It depends how you're compiling your code. Are you using a makefile? If so, then presumably you'll just need to edit the relevant line where the compiler is specified. You may also need to change the options passed to the compiler.

If you're just compiling your code with something like "gfortran file", then you'll need to run "ifort file" to use ifort. Obviously, you'll need to read the ifort documentation to see the options available.
