acceptable C compiler?

i am trying to install wine from source but my installation does the following

[justin@localhost wine-20021007]$ ./tools/wineinstall
WINE Installer v0.73

Running configure...

configure: creating cache config.cache
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Configure failed, aborting install.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what exactly do i need to do to fix this? im assuming its from not having a set of packages installed originally anyone know which ones i need?
