[SOLVED] Linus Torvalds warning against Linux 5.12 release
Linux creator himself, Linus Torvalds, warned against the use of the Linux 5.12 release. He described a “nasty bug,” and wrote that the situation is a “mess,” due to the use of swap files when adding Linux updates.
As Torvalds noted a few weeks ago, “most people don’t use a swap file, but a separate swap partition and the bug in question really only happens when you have a regular file system, and put a file on as a swap.
Is this an issue for Linux Mint users, and if so, what is the remedy?
Thank $DEITY I'm using an LTS kernel.
Debian also uses it, but doesn't even call it that. Not likely to be an issue there.
Ubuntu/Mint, I'm not so sure, but I don't think they blindly follow every release.
Distribution: Slackware64-current with "True Multilib" and KDE4Town.

GROSSLY MISLEADING TOPIC TITLE, TO SAY THE LEAST, and OLD NEWS.
There was an oversight in the first release candidate that was caught almost immediately and Mr. Torvalds released the second release candidate early to fix it.
End of story.
What a weird article. The author comes to all the right conclusions - basically: don't use early releases unless you know what you're doing - yet cannot resist feeding FUD to the masses.
