Wifi not appearing on server?

Alright, so the thing is like this.

I installed Ubuntu Server on a laptop, and at the time of choosing the network during installation, i skipped it, because if i wrote the name of my network to connect to, it always gave an error, so i thought i would configure it later.
Now it turns out i can't somehow connect to wifi, and my thoughts were that i was missing some drivers. But getting drivers from another machine and then getting them to the server... seemed hard.

So what i'm doing is wiping out the server and installing Ubuntu desktop, so i can find the correct drivers, get them on a usb and then install the server and then install the drivers.

The funny thing is that i popped the ubuntu desktop cd, and in the installation part at the beggining it's asking me to connect to a wifi... and my wifi is there... so obviously i'm not missing drivers...

My question is: Seeing my wifi drivers are correct, which commands tdo i have to input to my Ubuntu server so that it connects to a wifi in range? (the wifi is wpa secured, so it has a password)

tl;dr: im not missing drivers, how do i connect to a wpa secured wifi?

If you want to run Ubuntu Server on your wireless laptop you need a wireless manager that runs from the command line, not a gui.

I used and was pleased with WICD curses .... some hints over here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1380281

Good luck - send us an email from your wireless server
