We have:
.Zabbix Server (frontend and database on the same server, and we don't use Zabbix Proxy yet)
.Samba (for NAS)
.backup servers (storages, where the main programs used are rsync and ftpd),
.and LDAP,
all installed on servers with OS Slackware, some 14.1, others 14.2.
However, as the programs evolve and the stable version of Slackware seems to be a little slow on releases, it may be better to migrate to another OS. Which do you indicate for which or which of the mentioned software and why? Ubuntu Server 20.04? CentOS 8?
Have you ever considered Zentyal Server Development Edition?
Based on Ubuntu's LTS (18.04). Complete SOHO server: AD, DHCP, DNS, mail server (OpenChange; Microsoft Exchange native replacement), file server (CIFS), easy web interface, FreeRADIUS, firewall... https://zentyal.com/community/
You will be surprised of the capabilities!
Distribution: openSUSE, Raspbian, Slackware. Previous: MacOS, Red Hat, Coherent, Consensys SVR4.2, Tru64, Solaris

I wouldn't depend on any specific distribution being better than others for application support. If I needed a particular application bad enough, I'd go for the stable OS and build that application for that Linux. (Yeah... that likely means running configure and compiling from sources.) Frequent updates to critical applications give me the heebie jeebies. At a former employer, updates took a long time to roll out not only due to dependencies between other local software packages (mostly commercial) but also with previously written internal software and applications that were running on remote systems that ours interacted with. Something to consider. I've yet to see anything resembling release notes from any distribution vendors that you can read ahead of time about what changes are going to be made to your system when patches are installed. Subscribing to project mailing lists is impractical. In recent weeks I've gotten notices for some systems about as many as 2800+ updates. While that's, hopefully, a worst case situation, I'd hate to have to monitor even a tenth of that many individual projects.
