Anyone here knows how to configure an LDAP authentication method using webmin. I have installed openldap configured it right. I knew it is successful b'coz got these messages after ldapsearch -x command.

My concern here is that, whenever I create a username on LDAP Users and Groups on webmin. The users or groups which I created will also reflect on local users. I am able to create users or groups from LDAP users and groups. It would also authenticate user from ldap server. However, when I run a command like getent passwd. The user which I created from the ldap would not appear as a local.

Anyone knew how to resolve this issue? Please help.....

I'm not positive, but doesn't the local user account actually get created if a user logs in and PAM is set up to allow LDAP to authenticate logins? I guess I'm asking if you're sure the users show up as local as soon as you create them or if it happens when the user logs in. I'm also pretty sure that the local passwd file isn't the authoritative source for a user that authenticates via LDAP, though I could be wrong. I'm still learning this LDAP stuff myself.
