User, Group and Password List


Hi guys,,

is there a way to find out the list of users, groups and their passwords? because i need to edit most of my groups and the users within that group and especially their passwords..

Thanks in advance.

run /etc/passwd,/etc/shadow,/etc/groups to get the lists.

thanks for helping,, but is there a way to edit those information that i input? probably would change the spelling of the names and change of password by request in the future...

The root user can change any user password using the command "passwd". (And any user can change their own password with the same command) Take a look at the man page for the detailed syntax.

To change a user's login name use "usermod"---again, the details are on the man page.
