Hi, I have got my squid up and running with proxy_auth. that was fun.

find and check following directive in your /etc/squid/squid.conf file:

visible_hostname squid-server-name
http_port 3128
cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 1000 16 256
cache_access_log /var/log/squid/access.log

then, create an ACL for you network and allow the ACL with http_access like below

acl myNet 192.168.0.0/24
http_access allow myNet

then try this command:
/usr/sbin/squid -z

setup your client with your newly configured proxy server ip and port

you can check log squid with this command:

tail -f /var/log/squid/access.log

Squid Proxy

Hi Divya,

If you want you just browsing the internet the reply of pixnet is enough. I think your internet connection is terminated to your linuxbox. And you need to two ethernet card on your linux machine for your requirement. One is for WAN (PublicIP/Internet) and another is for localnetwork.

1.Your WAN ip is coneected to first NIC,suppose eth0
2.Then eth1 should be connected to hub/switch for your localnetwork.

Last but not least, try Firestarter firewall in your linux box ,it will do everything with the help of less than 10 mouse clicks .

If you need more info regarding this just tell me. I will give you a realtime example for you.
