Something wrong with Apache or php

Something go wrong with php and Apache, at first, the $GLOBALS array is looking like this
Code:
Array
(
    [GLOBALS] => Array
 *RECURSION*
    [_POST] => Array
        (
        )

    [_GET] => Array
        (
        )

    [_COOKIE] => Array
        (
        )

    [_FILES] => Array
        (
        )

)
Where is $GLOBALS[SERVER] ? And php debugging messages are no more printed in browser? When error occur I get 500 error message in headers and nothing more. I would like to have errors printed in browser again
Before, I installed Mysql and PHP-gd from Debian repository, could it be the problem?
I'm using apache/2.2.9(linux) PHP/5.3.2-1 with Suhosin-Patch according to Header Spy

I thought the $GLOBALS variable/ array/ whatever was deprecated in PHP 5.x? To activate error reporting you can use
error_reporting(E_ALL);
Hope that helps.
