SMB PDC migration??
hi all,
I had setup a SMB PDC on the office A, and everything work properly. no issue at all. Before join the domain, the users in office is login as local user. i used the smbldap-useradd -a $user to create user account and then user smbldap-passwd $user to modify the password. Then, i join the PC to domain and login , tested, ok.
I got a win2k3 AD + PDC in office B and plan to migrate to SMB PDC after few months. Who know the server infected by virus , i need to do migration. My colleague copy the win2k3's data from d:\profiles\$user folder to the linux's /home/profiles/$user. and then use chown to change the permission.
The situation at office B, they use LAM, LDAP Account Manager to add the roaming user and change their password.
After that i login to user system. i got such messages as below
Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - Network access is denied. [CLICK OK]
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.[CLICK OK]
after twice of clicking OK. i only able to login
but i found that there's a temp user create as roaming profile.
i want to use my own way which is what i did on the office A to recreate the user and see the problem still exists or not. ( because i have no the previleges to do such thing , i just can think and can give suggestion , if my colleague says anything my boss will side him. )
how do u guy think of the problem?????
i thinking the system attributes cause the issue ??????
