Use OpenVPN.

Quick HOWTO: http://www.openvpn.net/index.php/ope...ion/howto.html

By the way, what devices/OSes do you want to connect?

Yo do not need any special devices. Just install OpenVPN and configure it.

I've asked about the OS because some types of VPN are supported by not all OSes. OpenVPN is both GNU/Linux and Windows compatible.

I've never used CentOS but I'm absolutely sure that it has an OpenVPN package in its repository. And even if it doesn't, you know the solution.

I disagree that virtualization to BSD is the way to go for using OpenVPN as it is equivalent to using a sledge hammer to pound in a finishing nail. If you decide that it is indeed overkill, here is some information that may help you:
http://www.throx.net/2008/04/13/open...uration-guide/ BTW, openvpn is/was available in the package repositories as of Centos 5.2, so I find it hard to believe that it isn't available for your version.
