Hello,

I'm setting up home server from my "old" desktop computer (Athlon64, 1 GB of RAM, lotsa HD space, yaddayadda) and I was wondering on what distribution to use. The server will run MySQL, Apache, Squid, MPD, DHCP, DNS and it will also work as a gateway.

I don't need the server to hold my hand as I use it but wouldn't mind having GUI tools for managing the services. Also, a working 64-bit version is a big plus. I've used Slackware before on an older box but found the upgrading a bit too frustrating.

Anyone have any distribution in mind?

Try Debian. I used to use it, and I can tell you it's wonderful as a server distribution; upgrading is super-easy, and it's very well documented. I've often heard Debian referred to as the preferred distribution for servers.
